ENG
Feminised labors of sewing, dancing, chatting and gossiping take centerstage in this artistic research in the middle of climate collapse.
Choreography could be imagined as the art of commanding bodies and capturing material. SPF 69 (working title) wants to practice choreography as an art of suggestion and binding relations between things.
With the help of The Carrier Bag Theory of Fiction by Ursula Le Guin, the artistic duo PAOwMALIE ask what kinds of storytelling might be possible if we center things that carry and hold. SPF 69 (working title) is a container for dreaming about a world where repairing and re-making things is the norm. Discarded fruitnets might turn into responsive scenography, fashioned into outfits or a dance partner. To help explore the dramatic potentials, the project will experiment with touch-based dance styles such as tango, contact improvisation and even wrestling.
