This performance unveils the true Lesya Ukrainka — an unconventional, strong, willful, and joyful woman who loved and was loved. The show presents the “non-textbook” Lesya Ukrainka: her private life, love and losses, illness and travels, her devotion to Ukraine, and her tireless dedication to her craft. It’s a story inspired by her letters, diaries, and the voices of the characters from her dramatic poems.

It’s about what drives one to fight for justice, what makes life worth living, and even worth dying for. Yes, she fought a severe illness, but that struggle became a stepping stone to discovering higher meanings and revealing a vision of a European Ukraine.
