Echoing Abhinaya er et eksperiment med lydkomposition og manipulation udløst i realtid af narrative værktøjer fra den klassiske indiske danseform Bharatanatyam: abhinaya (ansigtsudtryk) og mudraer (håndbevægelser).

Koreograf Lydia Touliatou og lyddesigner Timo Tikkas tekniske metoder inkluderer MAX-patches med ansigts- og gestusgenkendelse og PlayStation 5-controllere.

Eksperimentet udfordrer teknologi – ikke blot som et medie til at generere kinetisk og sonisk materiale, men som et medie, der påvirker, hvordan vi opfatter lyd og bevægelse.

A mixed-media experimentation stemming from Bharatanatyam’s narrative tools.

Echoing Abhinaya is an experiment with sound composition and manipulation triggered in real time by the narrative tools of the classical Indian dance form, Bharatanatyam: abhinaya (facial expressions) and mudras (hand gestures).

Choreographer Lydia Touliatou and sound designer Timo Tikka’s technical methods include MAX patches with facial and gestural recognition, and PlayStation 5 controllers.
