35 X ME AND SOME ACTRESSES is an interactive performance that takes the form of an educational evening. The performance raises the questions of whether a utopia is possible, or even desirable. And it is up to you as an audience member to decide for yourself. The performance is organized as a series of practical workshops, where the audience can explore their own dilemmas of a feminist & utopian internet: When does security become suffocating? Can radical inclusion turn into exclusion? Where to set personal boundaries in the creation of a collective?
In the fall of 2016, the Finnish theatre group Blaue Frau launched an open call in Nordic countries to find collaborators for their performance “35 X ME AND SOME ACTRESSES”. The assignment in the open call was to describe how the private and professional “I” combines and collides as an actress. Blaue Frau received 139 replies to the call, and finally, a group of 7 actresses was formed and together they ventured out on the creative process of examining how identity is performed online today.
The performance “35 X ME AND SOME ACTRESSES” asks who is following who and if there is space for a revolution in the online world? In the performance, the physical theatre space is filled with interactive stations where the audience will get to know for example how to create bodily pleasure in cyberspace, how to detox themselves from the real-world patriarchy, and how to create their online persona.
The performance is in English
The performance premiered in Helsinki, Finland at Lilla Teatern in February 2018 and has toured Iceland and Sweden the same year.

“The evening has been, at least, unexpected and liberating. The working group has demonstrated amazing creativity – I would have loved to try out all the stations. Despite the playfulness, the underlying message is serious: a willingness to really change. Break the patriarchy.”
