SEALERS – ONE LAST HUNT is an Arctic roadmovie, with hardy men and women facing sudden storms, harsh conditions and isolation out on the ice-covered ocean. The documentary follows Bjørn and his crew during the preparations and during what might be their very last seal hunt. In magnificent shots of a white and ice-blue landscape, the spattered blood of hundreds of seals makes a grim contrast. After 200 years of seal hunting in Norway, the Norwegian government banned seal hunting in 2015. One ship sets off out into the Greenland Sea on what may be the last seal hunt in Norwegian waters. The film is a celebration of a dying way of life. And with a soundtrack filled with country music, it feels that we are sailing along with the cowboys of the sea. When the trip is over and the pelts and meat have been sold on the dock, Bjørne and his crew are sorry to say goodbye,- maybe forever. SEALERS – ONE LAST HUNT won the Audience Award at Tromsø Internationale Film Festival.
